02 Jun How employees can be coached to reach their full potential
What enables you to reach your full potential in your job?
According to a Harvard Business Review survey of nearly 15K US workers, people work to their full potential when they:
- Get clear direction about what’s expected of them
- Are willing to ask questions and are able to do so
- Are not overwhelmed with rules and unproductive meetings
To perform at their optimal level, regardless of their job, people need clear parameters and a certain degree of autonomy.
Whether they’re team players or thrive in solo situations, they have to feel like their contributions are valued and their decision-making skills trusted.
They also, of course, require purpose in their work. Matching up the motivations of job seekers with the companies that have like values is at the crux of my work as a Managing Partner.
When I do it right, my client organizations get the most out of their employees, and the employees feel rewarded for their contributions.
