26 Mar Focus on your system, not just setting goals
What do you do when you want to achieve something that seems out of reach? You set goals.
Setting goals is important, but there is something else you should be looking at to achieve those goals.
Focus on your system.
Author James Clear gives the example of a basketball coach focused on what their team does during practice each day, rather than focusing on having the highest score each game. When you focus on your daily habits and skills, “the score will take care of itself.”
Use goals to set your direction, and make sure your system is designed to make progress.
When you focus only on your goals and keep failing, you are failing to see the reasons why you aren’t succeeding.
Assess and re-assess as needed, because your system is what makes you successful, not just your goals.
